Jesus, having been seen of Peter, appeared to the two who went to Emmaus. Read carefully the reference given from Luke, the natural conversation between Jesus and the two men "whose eyes were holden." After they had told him about "the things" that had come to pass in Jerusalem, which only a. "stranger would not know," Jesus said unto them, "0 fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things, to enter into his glory?" And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself (the Christ).

"Search the scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me (the Christ)." "Ye think," you fancy that eternal life is to be found in the book; no --- but in what the book tells you about, and here I Am as a living example of it. We should read the Scriptures as any other book, for practical instruction.

The Messiah of expectation was not thought of as a man of Divine nature, but as Divinely appointed: All through his career Jesus displayed a reticence and sense of proportion, a spiritual efficiency unequaled among men of all time.
