Joshua

It is the last book of the Hexateuch.

Story of conquest and partition of Canaan, containing the events of Joshua 's life after the death of Moses.

This land had been promised the Israelites, but you see there was something for them to do. We talk about standing still and seeing the salvation of the Lord, but that does not mean that there will be no activity. It means that the Lord will work in us more than ever when there is the willingness to let God work.

Although this was the "promised land," they were to put their feet on the ground before they possessed it. The feet symbolize understanding. That is what the whole tendency of this teaching is, to understand God and man, and man's relation to God. There must be co-operation with God.

For many years the children of Israel had constant battles. They were told when they went into the promised land that they must cast out every inhabitant of that land; that has seemed a cruel thing, but when we read it spiritually, it is not cruel at all, but the reverse. They were told to
