mountain, and when he was set (settled, established in consciousness) his disciples came unto him."

We can lead others to truth only as we ourselves are fully convinced, and are faithful to what we know.

"He opened his mouth and taught" --- and the first words are benedictions. Jesus says first of all that conditions that men usually pity are blessed! They that are poor in spirit, that mourn, that are meek, that hunger and thirst after righteousness, all of these conditions are called happy. Why? Because they that have riches of intellect, of externals, of abundance in the outer, are likely to feel satisfied with that which is temporary. While those who feel empty will seek. Those who have little to boast of in the personal, will turn to the eternal and greater things of Truth.

Then Jesus says, Those who are merciful shall be treated with mercy, or as he said later --- The measure we give forth shall return to us --- The judgment we pass on others shall be passed on us. Jesus simply speaks of a law --- the measure we mete, the judgment we make is in accord with the development of our thoughts, it proves the level of belief upon which we are living and no better than this can be given out or received by us.

The pure in heart shall see God," because that is the God-like consciousness.
