to which Koheleth seems to be addressing his intellectual reasoning of the destiny of man and the value of his labor. One reasons from a basis, a principle one argues from appearances.

Although there is much pessimism, much that is not true in this book, yet we find much to encourage us in what the author discovers in his search for the meaning of Life, which appears to give him so little comfort or satisfaction.

He (God) hath made everything beautiful in its time; also He hath set the world, or eternity, in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end.

In the process of the soul's unfoldment into the consciousness of itself, the end or completion of God's perfect work cannot be seen, but the world or eternity set in man's heart is the light of understanding that analyzes the world belief and opinion, the intellect with its reasoning from appearances, and sees that all eternity belongs to the soul.
