"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." How, then, shall we know the right way if that which seemeth right, is not so? We may know by the end or result thereof. "By their fruits ye shall know them." "Like begets like" is the law and that conception which is heaven born will bear the impress of heaven in its results.

Gen 46: 2-4

The move into Egypt seemed to Jacob to receive its Divine sanction. We read, "And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, 'Fear not to go down into Egypt; I will go down with thee, and I will also surely bring thee up again.' " Do not these words show Divine endorsement of this move upon the part of Israel? Does it not seem that it is the will of Spirit that we turn to find in the external a supply that it cannot give? We are forced to say, no, indeed! Spirit, by its omnipresence, is ever giving us full supply, but we, not seeing it, turn to external for help we have sought in Spirit. Then, what significance have these words to Jacob? Let us carefully
