as the garden of God. Eden is the ground in which the Lord God plants the garden and there is where he puts the man he forms. Eden is the ground of eternal substance; it is the dust of this ground of which man was formed. There is but one substance --- this is Holy ground, and for this reason, man was named Adam in the day in which he was created, the sixth day of finished work.

The Hebrew word used for garden, gan, denotes that which has been covered, protected, that fruit be raised. To plant, is to set, fix --- the image and likeness is set, fixed, in its Source, eternal Being.

 "Eastward" means where the light is. God is light and is the cause of all that comes forth and all things consist in light which He calls day. Therefore, the garden planted eastward in Eden, necessarily stands for the truth that all creation, invisible or visible, originates and lives in God.

Eden --- Adhen, denotes pleasure, delight; it stands for potential creation, the garden planted. The innate possibility of the creator, a garden where everything is rooted in the ground allegorically expresses the truth that the whole creation is the image of the invisible God. The whole has being and origin in God; we are all firmly rooted and grounded in Him, as is a literal garden planted in the ground. And we can no more bear
