Pauls Letter to the Hebrews - p. 390

The greatest weight of testimony favors the opinion that Paul was author, though probably Luke was writer of this letter. Composed by Paul when he was in strict custody, either at Caesarea or at Rome, just before his death, II Tim. 4:6, when denied writing materials he dictated it to Luke, who then committed it to writing from memory. Some students think we have only a Greek translation of a Hebrew text.

Heb. 1: 2-3, 5, 13, 14

God's word spoken through his Son, the Christ.

The Son whom He hath appointed to be heir of all things --- being the brightness of glory, image of his person. For unto which of the angels said He at any time, "Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee, and, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a son. Angels, are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?"

Heb. 2: 14, 17, 18

Paul's reasoning, why Jesus assumed human nature. Jesus was a divinely natural man. The Messiah of expectation was not thought of as a man of divine nature, but as divinely appointed.

Heb. 3:4-6, 19

He that built all things is God, Son, Master of the house; Moses, a servant in it. So we see that they could not enter in because of their unbelief.

Heb. 4: 3, 11, 12, 15, 16
