The Queen advises him to send for Daniel, who interprets the writing. 23rd verse, "Thou bast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven --- and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified." Darius, having taken the kingdom after Belshazzar, was slain, appointed 120 princes over whom he placed three presidents, making Daniel the first. These jealous princes persuaded the king to pass a. decree that no God should be invoked for thirty days. Daniel was disobedient and was cast into a den of lions.
