David anointed king.

Abner at David's request, brings Michal home. Joab slays Abner, who is mourned by the king. Nathan is prophet at this time David king. Prophet represents the highest vision; king usually goes to the prophet.

God did not want David to build a tabernacle. The Lord was going to make a temple out of the body of David. Out of each one of us. (John 2:21 I. Cor. 3:16-17.)

God wanted to be worshipped in temple (soul) of man, not in the external.
