Pharaoh progressed. "Death of first born," death of our dearest conceptions. We cannot hold a belief that is a betrayer of truth. We must look to the end of our conceptions sooner or later, the right or constructive way. Aaron is given Moses for mouthpiece.

Aaron's rod swallowed the others; ignorance is swallowed up by Truth; Truth is the only power.

Third plague magicians could not help, "it is the finger of God."

Obstacle --- the sea; instead of going forward through the barrier, they halted and soon were overtaken by their old foes. Sea, here, stands for separation. When we place anything between ourselves and the presence of God, our old conceptions and beliefs overtake us.
