"And the rib which the Lord God had taken
from Man, made He a woman, and brought
her unto the man." Tsalah --- rib, denotes a side,
an extension. First claim of separation of soul
and body. There is but One. That One is Mind and it is Omnipresence, including every phase of
development through which the soul passes on its
way to full consciousness. Woman is a phase in
this One; man also is a phase in this One.
Woman stands for intuition; man for the reasoning faculty. It is now seen that body is the offspring of soul; that body is of the very substance of soul; or as Adam speaks,
"This is now
bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; she shall
be called woman because she was taken out of
Man." As this is but the dawn of understanding, we need not wonder if the full relation of this "pair" is not comprehended. Only now do we
begin to realize what the body is to the soul and
what the soul is to the body. In generation,
woman --- intuition--is the governing force; in regeneration, man --- reason, rules; in complete understanding there is recognition of unity; Body
is seen to be as sacred as Soul; intuition as great
as reason; woman is as important as man, because equality is realized and neither rules the
other. This is union of understanding.
In generation there is no thought of the lifting up of the body. While the body governs us,
