"As the artist begins his painting by outlining
his mental picture on canvas, then proceeds to
work in the detail of his ideal unto its completion,
so in Genesis the first statement of the first day is
one inclusive of the whole of creation, and what
follows is descriptive of heaven and earth which
are created in God in the beginning. They are
simultaneous creations and include all the 'Hosts
of them.'
"Days in Genesis have a spiritual meaning;
the things of the Spirit refer to Spirit, they have
no reference to periods of time, but rather to
God's accomplishments. This is seen in that He
called the firmament heaven and the dry land
earth. We are to conclude that as all creation is
in the omnipresent One, before it is expressed, its
expression is simultaneous everywhere at the
same time. The evidence we have of this is that
both the visible and invisible exist at this time.
"All things are made by My word, and without it is not anything made that is made. The
Creator is God, the Creative action is God and
Creation is God. All existence is in God after
it is expressed, as it is before. The earth never
ceases to be without form and void before it is expressed, and is never apparent in anything but
form when it is expressed."
The meaning of the word of God is form; the
universe is the utterance of life, the spoken word.
