To experience goodness we will have to identify ourselves with goodness. That is not easy. For instance, we start the day by saying, "I am going to believe only in harmony?' Then we see a headline in the paper, we listen to the radio and talk with each other. Then we say, "Well, harmony is in God -- in heaven. I wish it were here on earth?' In this way we separate ourselves from it. We should not only refuse to comment on the discord, but we should not even dare to hold it in our thought. To think about a thing is to will to do it, and to have the will to do it is to bring it about in our lives.

We will have to learn to think straight. What does this mean in actual practice? For example, we will take the case of a person who thinks he or she has no friends. Loneliness is one of the greatest diseases in the world, a sense of aloneness, of not belonging to the universe, a sense that no one cares. More people suffer from this than from anything else, and it produces a larger percentage of suffering than all other diseases. We should instruct such a person to realize that:

"God is in you. God is in everyone else. There is One Mind common to all individuals. There is One Person. All people are in this One Person; every person is a personification of this One; therefore there is something in you that is one with every other person you will ever meet. Solve your problem by never again believing anything else. Identify yourself with that One in everyone
