PART II - Effective Prayer

Mystics throughout the ages are most often remembered for the power of their prayers.

How does prayer work?

First and foremost prayer works by changing the person who is praying. Spiritual Treatment necessitates a change within the practitioner vis a vis the condition being treated. Prayer is found to be most effective when there is a deep confidence or faith on the part of the individual praying. If a person cannot believe in the prayers that he or she is enunciating, then demonstration will not be forthcoming.

How can we increase the effectiveness of prayer?

In Matthew 18:19-20, Jesus says: "Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.  For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

This relates a powerful teaching regarding shared and directed thought. The principle that there is more power in united action by people aligned in thought and purpose is one that has empowered men and women throughout the world. We see people coming together to raise barns, build houses and insure fairness in wages and treatment.
