is that part of us that enables us to know, will and act. Prayer is a mental approach to a Reality which is a thing of intelligence. This is why the crucifix has power. It is why the crescent has power. "In God's name" admits of more than one symbol. It is not the symbol but the idea symbolized that makes prayer effective.

Some prayers are more effective than others; some only help us to endure while others transcend conditions and demonstrate an invisible law which has power over the visible. We may consider it a law that insofar as prayer is affirmative it is creative of the desired results.

We are determined to find the secret of this, and it is very simple. The universe is a thing of intelligence projecting itself into experience. Consciousness is impossible unless there is something of which it may be conscious. That of which it is conscious must take form that the consciousness may not remain an idle dream.

Following the thought is the thing. Following the prayer is the answer. Following self-knowingness is demonstration. If, then, we are some part of the universal wholeness, does it not follow that "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he"? This is why the prayer of faith is effective. The affirmative triumphs over the negative, and faith full-orbed steps forth into the power of God.

A treatment is not a petition but an affirmation resting in the belief that it is the nature of Reality to give to us and to express Itself through us. From this sense
