protection and defense. There is no fear in the Divine Presence. Fear is carnal and has no place in the spiritual nature.
Fear cast out.
"Perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” --- I John 4 :18
There is no fear in love, and if we seem to have the slightest fear remaining, whether of God or man, beast or devil, we may know there is a vacuum in us demanding the in-filling of divine Love.
“The fear of the Lord,” spoken of in Proverbs, ninth chapter, tenth verse, means reverence for the Lord, without which there cannot be either divine Wisdom or divine Love. Perfect love of God reveals to us that we have absolutely nothing to fear from the Author of All-goodness, in whom there is no evil thing, and that we can trust to His presence and power in everything that lives and has being.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
--- 2 Tim. I :7.
The fearful are classified with murderers and liars in Revelations, twenty-first chapter, eighth verse, as having no part in the realm of the True, but as being destined to pass through purging fires, that the false may be consumed, and all that is worth anything may be refined and set free from its tormenting presence. Therefore there is no justification for retaining fear of anything or anybody, and every student should be in training to cast out every fear from his being through the power of Trust and Almighty Love.
“Put on the whole armor of God” (Eph. 6:II), and realize the promises extended to all who are fearless
