met fearlessly by the very name that mortals have given it, and be proven without place, power, or intelligence.

Confession.

To mention a secret belief in the presence of one who realizes its nothingness is sufficient to erase the whole thing from mind. This is the reason why the heart desires to confess to one in whom it has confidence, and feels such relief in confessing. Whenever you feel that you must tell your troubles to some one, select some strong, loving mentality who will make nothing of the evils you tell, and your wisdom will be rewarded with a perfect unburdening and sense of freedom peculiar to candor and innocence. Then you will know the reason of the advice,

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.” --- Jas. 5:16.

As a healer many sins and sorrows may be told you that have never been breathed to any one. But you should never whisper such confidences to another. The honor that governs the priest and the doctor should be yours. And more than this, you would be untrue to your principles were you to repeat the tales of evil that are poured into your ears. Forget them as quickly as possible, or if they remain in your memory, let them be a suggestion to silently breathe a blessing to the one who has confessed, couching the blessing in words especially appropriate for their realization of the complete absolving of the wrong doing.
