The race, starting with the erroneous premise that Man is fleshly and mortal, and that materiality is true substance, seems to have involved itself in a maze of false conclusions. From childhood humanity is taught to believe in the evil influences of climate, the likelihood of accidents, the contagion of diseases, the contamination of associates, the limitations of physical laws. Fears, anxieties, distrust of men and animals, dread of future punishment, preparations and provisions for sickness, death, and old age --- these have all been considered legitimate states of mind by deluded mortals, and such errors must not be entertained in the mind that desires to manifest perfect health in self and others. We do not need to seek out these false beliefs, but when they seem to present themselves let us be alert not to give them place and power by unconsciously assenting to them as lawful and true.

Small mistakes.

To mortal sense some errors, such as those called sins, are greater than others, and yet there is no rank in error if one judges it by results, for the mental physician who diagnoses mind often traces the source of the most aggravating and painful diseases to such common beliefs in evil as worriment and anxiety, distrust, fears, small gossip, impatience, and petty sensitiveness. By neglecting to correct these insignificant errors many an otherwise good man or woman seems slow in being healed, while some flagrant sinner comes quickly to health because he repents and completely renounces the sin that lies back of his disease.
