There Are Earthly And Heavenly Bodies

Paul tells us there are earthly bodies and heavenly bodies and that the earthly must put on the heavenly. This is in line with the teaching that we die from one plane to another and will, until the lesson of life is learned. This teaching is reasonable and acceptable to all who think the problem out to its logical conclusion.

When we stand beside the bier of a loved one, our hearts cannot but be filled with sorrow because of the physical absence of our beloved: yet our souls are filled with holy awe at the marvelous transformation which he has undergone. The mortal has become more aware of immortality. The human has expanded more greatly into the divine. Our loved one has passed to a greater recognition of life, truth, and beauty.

It is but natural that we grieve, and we would not wish it otherwise, for the most beautiful thing in life is personal love and friendship. This is the most Godlike attribute of human existence. When a loved one passes from among us we grieve, for an empty place will be left, but we know that with the dawn of that eternal morning his face will again be seen, and again we shall clasp his hand.

Our grief is lost in joy when we realize that our beloved has but gone before; that life is eternal, forever expanding into more beautiful forms for the expression

of the incarnated God who indwells every soul. The spirit of man is a spark of the Infinite Fire of Life, caught in human mould. It is a drop of the Infinite Ocean and must return to its source.

The passing of the human body is necessary to the evolution of the soul and when, by reason of sickness, accident or infirmity, it is no longer a fit instrument through which the incarnating spirit may work it is laid aside that this spirit, which knows itself to be free, may expand and express.

When the soul needs a new body through which to function it takes one.
