Call of Samuel. Answer, "Here I am" --- perfect OBEDIENCE.

Israelites believed the glory of God had departed from them when the ark was taken away by the Philistines.

Ark --- presence of God.

Presence of God is always destruction of unbelief.

Samuel is Judge, a very clear vision for his time. The last Judge of Israel.

They had turned away so often they thought the kings could fight their battles for them better than God could.

We learn what the people did.

Second verse description of Saul.

Stands for the wavering beliefs. Who shall rule over us?

They ask for King after having seen the Lord as leader; this was their sin.

Saul took the Amalekites.

Samuel's attitude was one of severity toward Saul.
