nor return evil for good even in thought. The good people of to-day who are in pain and trouble and want are learning to take these experiences as signs that something is wrong. They cry, “I do not steal, I do not lie, I do not commit adultery, I do by my neighbor as I would be done by. Why is it, then, that I am so afflicted?“ And again the Truth is sounding,

“Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
--- Matt. 5 :20.

Anger overcome.

Let us consider some of the directions for right living which Jesus gave in the Great Discourse. He says,

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill, and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother is in danger of the judgment.” --- Matt. 5 :21, 22.*

That is, not only must a man refrain from killing with his hands and his words, but also he must refrain from all angry thinking. Are you impatient? Must you continually suppress anger? Do you allow your temper to foam and ferment within? Where do you think such force goes? It is plain to be seen how the character and circulation of the blood is influenced by angry thinking --- how the face pales or flushes under such emotion. And when it is considered how blood
