Psalm 73

TRULY God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

Israel” where Defined. It means “such as are of a clean heart.” “An Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile” (John 11: 47). The Psalm goes on to describe “the wicked.” The keynotes to the description are:

1. They are principled in exactly the opposite to the Divine Spirit — they base themselves on violence and the power to oppress; in other words, on the Principle of Compulsion, while “where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” This is their Disposition (verses 6 and 8).

2. Their disposition is supported by a False Philosophy which believes that the Divine Spirit is ignorant (verse 11). If they realize Spirit at all, they realize it only on the side of the World of the Negative, which, of course, is Relatively ignorant — but remember the Intelligence according to its level is inherent in all Spirit. They never realize the World of the Positive, which is what the True Israelite bases upon, the World of the Positive being Supreme Personality, though Universal and therefore Unindividualized, and which is the source of all Personality and Knowledge in the Individual and which is therefore the Great Guide and Continual Companion, the Grand Camarade.
