33 To him that rideth upon the heavens of heav-ens, which were of old; lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice.
The heaven of heavens = the eighth sphere.
Voice , or word.
34 Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
His strength is in the clouds, i.e., it is to be found in the outer teaching as well as in the inner: i.e., the Word in its literal sense.
35 O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God.
The Psalm ends with thanks to God for the strength and power (verse 28) He gives us, and for the joy and comfort resulting from His Presence.
This Psalm admits of much more detailed explanation. It is a grand statement of the True Mysteries of God. But the chief thing is justice and kindness (verses 5 and 6).
A great note of joy throughout this Psalm —singing — rejoicing (verses 3, 4, 19, 24, 32). This Psalm is highly mystical, and deserves careful study — God confers strength, and we may have it from Him, the Lord the Spirit (verses 18, 28, 34, 35). Note that God has commanded our strength (verse 28) — He has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, etc.
