18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul:
and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
This Psalm sets forth the life-giving power of a right understanding of the real nature of Truth. It is the man who does not understand who perishes as an animal (verse 20). For want of understanding Truth they centre themselves on earthly possessions and so miss laying hold of the life that is life indeed. The veiled character of the Psalms is fully stated in verses 3 and 4 (Absorption and Radiation). God Himself is our Redeemer (verse 15).
Psalm 50
THE mighty God, even the Lord, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.
2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.
3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence:a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.
