This is the wisdom which the righteous speak, for “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh “— “ we speak wisdom among the perfect.”
The wicked borrows and does not return (verse 21) but the right-minded man is of a giving disposition (verses 21 and 26).
Peace is specially mentioned in verses 11 and 37 — but it is promised throughout the Psalm as the result of departing from evil and doing good (verse 27). Christ’s parting gift was Peace, for the same reason. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. Anger distorts Truth (verse 8). Cf. Ps. XXXIV: 14.
Psalm 38
O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.
3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
5 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.
