Unification or New Thought Unification Week is from June 18th to June 26th.

8 Days a week beginning with International Picnic Day, followed by Juneteenth.

8 days a week beginning with International Picnic Day on June 18th, followed by Juneteenth, which is Freedom or Emancipation day celebrating the end of Slavery within the United States. June 19th, 2016 is also Father's Day which was first commemorated by Grace Golden Clayton whose father died in the 1907 Monongah Mining Disaster which killed 361 men, leaving around a thousand fatherless children. Even in the 21st Century preventable mining accidents occur in the United States. The death of 29 workers in the Upper Big Branch mine in 2010 led to the rare conviction of Donald L. Blankenship for conspiring to violate federal safety standards. Blankenship is the most prominent American coal executive ever convicted of a crime related to mining deaths. Such prosecutions are rare and convictions seldom. International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21st, which is one of the two days of the year that upon which June Solstice falls. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is the longest day of the year. June 23rd is International Widows Day which is a day of action to address the "poverty and injustice faced by millions of widows and their dependents in many countries". The season concludes on June 26th, which is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, "an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse."

A Time of Celebration of Unification of Life and Love

Throughout the world, June Solstice conveys great meaning which stretches back through the millennia. Within the Northern Hemisphere, June Solstice is the longest day of the year, in Southern Hemisphere it is the shortest.
Most importantly this is a time of celebration of the Unification of all Life. We are all within the global biosphere and our health and happiness depends upon a balance between humanity and nature. In the face of Global Warming and its denial by those clinging to destructive paradigms often rooted within decadent interpretations of the teachings of ancient religions, it is incumbent upon those people of sense and sensibility to strive for understanding of the essential truth of our interdependence.

Every solstice is a time of renewal of relationships. A time to assess how our relationships are? In ancient cultures such as the Nordo-Celtic culture of pre-Roman Europe, this was a time for couples to decide if they should continue their relationships for another year. In the place the golden rings of today, were metal spirals for the arm or finger. At the beginning of the festival couples would return their spirals to their partner and at the end of the festival they would either be withheld or returned. If withheld by either party, this meant the relationship was at an end, if returned by both parties, the relationship was renewed for another year. If there were children, the obligation of both parties was held till the age of majority which was often age 14 at that time.

Ancient traditions throughout the world, in Europe, Asia, and the America's recognized the Solstice as an important part of the circle of life. Ancient Egyptians enshrined this moment within the mythology of Horus and Seth; Ancient Greeks celebrated Kronia with traditions focusing upon Cronus, the god of Time and Agriculture and Cronus' first born: Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth and Nutrition, one of the eternal virgins; Ancient Romans feasted in honor of Vesta, Goddess of home and family. Ancient Chinese honored the earth and Yin, the sacred feminine energy embodied within the Tao of complementary energies. Nordo-Celtic culture celebrated the choice of freedom of each person to understand Unification and choose either change or continuity.

Within New Thought this celebration affords adherents a time of joyful celebration of Love and Life. Unification of the Time-Space continuum and the impact of said understanding upon our cultures. The importance of compassion action and continued obligation even with change in relations.

Keeping in mind that since the advent of the New Millennium over 49% of New Thought Communities have closed!

How will you celebrate this season? We know that there are more New Thought adherents than ever before, but that attendance at old New Thought Communities is in drastic decline.

How does this affect you? What type of New Thought are you more inclined toward?

As a New Thought adherent do you attend a New Thought community? If so, how does that community celebrate this holiday?

Kupala is a traditionally a time to celebrate the union of masculine and feminine energy and the time to feel the truth of our connection with the earth and the universe. Festivals often take place near water and involve bathing.

The 8 day celebration of Unification is a celebration of the truth that we are one with the energy at the root of the universe. It is a time to celebrate partnership, cocreation, love and light.

Unification is the second step within Affirmative prayer in which practitioners acknowledge the truth of our DivineUnity (oneness with the Divine). During the celebration of Unification, New Thought adherents:

  • take time to see if we are fulfilling the goals we made 6 months before during the New Thought celebration of Release.
  • shine light into their personal lives to see how they are evolving and where their Personal Evolution it taking them.
  • put some energy into illuminating what is going on in the world and how we are contributing to highest good.

The crops are ripening in the Northern Hemisphere where days are at their longest and the nights shortest. In the Southern hemisphere, the June Solstice is when the nights are longest and the days are shortest.

Joyful expression celebrating life includes creating wildflower wreaths, celestial skygazing that combines science and spirituality, Flute music and drum circles, as well as nude jumping over fires.

As written about above, in the ancient days, people in the Northern Hemisphere would renew their annual vows of partnership on this night. This was the meaning of the exchange of spirals to be work around the arm. A night of lovemaking and celebration of life.

The Maypole Dance in June.

What is the Divine Energy which is at the root of the universe?

Physicists call this Vacuum Energy because it exists in the space between things throughout the universe. There is more space in the universe than matter occupying space. This space is between atoms within atoms. The typical distance between atoms within a solid mass such is about the same as the size of the atoms themselves. These atoms may align themselves in lattices which are regular repeated three-dimensional arrangements of atoms, ions, or molecules in metals or other crystalline solids. On earth, in gases at room temperature and normal pressure the distance between molecules is many times their size. In deep space densities can be as low as one proton per cubic centimetre! There is also space within the atoms themselve. A hydrogen atom is about 99.9999999999996% empty space.

"The Space Between
Your heart and mine
Is the space we'll fill with time
The Space Between..."

~ Dave Matthews Band May 16th, 2001
(6 months before Arab terrorists attacked the world trade center on 2001.09.11)

What makes these different is the tilt of the earth. Solstices have been noted and celebrated by humanity worldwide. Ancient monuments like Stonehenge, Chichen Itza in Mexico and the temple of Karnak in Egypt were built to form specific alignments as this pattern repeats itself annually. These dates are important with regards to planting and harvesting. This is why as cultures advance in understanding of astronomy, they mark these dates with important monuments.

Awareness is an essential ingredient to consciousness. This is why science is essential to real spirituality. This is because science is not a collection of beliefs, it is a way of thinking. Scientific thinking is aimed at discovering truth. Another name for New Thought is Truth Teachings. Unlike old thought religions which are often predicated on a person's "revelation," New Thought includes the concept of Spiritual Evolution. Thus when we gain insights that supercede old thought, we update and upgrade. We let go of old belief patterns that do not support us to live the Divine Life and move forward.

New Thought teaches that higher consciousness requires awareness. Thus, while adherents can "turtle" (live in a bubble), spiritual leaders and those wishing to transcend must walk the High Metaphysical Path which is epitomized by the 23rd Psalm:

"The Divine flows through me, guides & protects me, my needs are met; I am guided and required to sleep well, in a good place. I am led to the deeper zones of consciousness like peaceful waters. My soul is refreshed, my energy renewed. I am guided to better decisions for highest good. Great Spirit provides a banquet even in the face of antagonists: anoints my head with oil; abundance flows to me and through me, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all they days of my life, and I will dwell within the Divine Dimensions for eternity." ~ Mystic's Bible

Walking the High Metaphysical path means we cannot live with blinders on. While some may ensconce themselves within illusion teachings, Chapter 7 of the Lotus Sutra teaches us that to transcend we must let go of illusions and embrace 'That That Is.'

The parable is about a group of travelers who must journey across a challenging and difficult land in order to reach a place of peace filled with abundance of good. At some point, the group is tired, afraid and wants to turn back.

Their leader, a wise and caring wisdom holder, realizes that they are close to their goal, and if they give up, then all their efforts will be wasted:

"Release your fears, we must not turn back. Let us focus on the present moment, here and now."

Guided in a deep meditation, they create a virtual reality.

"Here is a wonderful city where you can recuperate your energy. Take time to relax, rest and enjoy yourselves."

Their spiritual leader kept watch over them while they regained their internal stability and outward strength insuring that while they "turtled" within their virtual reality, they were safe and sound. Observing that the group had recuperated, the leader awakens them from their illusion: "We are near the place of peace and abundance. Now that everyone is feeling strong, it is time to awaken from this illusion. It was only a virtual reality. Together we can progress and transcend." ~ Lotus Sutra: Chapter Seven - The Parable of the Virtual City

Within New Thought, we celebrate life. There are many theories as to what happens after life is concluded, but our focus is upon this life. The progressive roots and truth of New Thought cannot be denied except by ignoring history and reality. New Thought observes the difference between 'actual' and 'virtual.' This is not always the case with some old thought "revealed religions" which at times will maintain their interpretation of revelations from long dead founders even in the face of proof which contradicts their beliefs. In the case of decadent religions, leaders have been indoctrinated to such as extent that they are afraid that truth will destabilize the "revealed religion" they are promulgating.

New Thought Day was declared by James Edgerton on August 23rd, 1915
During research while expanding the free New Thought Library, one of the ministers came across an interesting quote from early New Thought Alliance President James A. Edgerton: "'The truth, once announced, has the power not only to renew but to extend itself. New Thought is universal in its ideals and therefore should be universal in its appeal. Under the guidance of the spirit, it should grow in good works until it embraces many lands and eventually the whole world.' ~ New Thought Day, August 23rd , 1915."
