While Murphy recognizes that some things happen to us that we did not in fact cause, he postulates that overall such events are rare. He goes on to formulate that these events may in fact have a causal root within us due to previously absorbed images which has been slumbering within the unconscious simply waiting to emerge, but with proper meditation and application of Spiritual Mind Treatment we can purge ourselves of these images by adding new more powerful images rooted in wisdom and compassion.

Understanding our unconscious minds as a photographic mechanisms enables us to remove emotion entanglements which cause energy sapping struggles which prevent us from changing our lives. We simply need to replace existing mental images with new ones and by doing so our lives change simply and easily.

Murphy states: "The law of your mind is the law of belief itself," echoing James Allen's As A Man Thinketh which is of course rooted in the Chrislamic teaching found within the New Testament: Mark 9:23 "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth"
