happiness, but the righteousness of Jesus Christ is the entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven here and now. The righteousness of the world, or the Pharisees, as Jesus expressed it, is an outward keeping of the moral or ethical laws. But in order to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven one must know how to keep the law inwardly, which is a righteousness that exceeds the old way, and is as high above it as the heavens are above the earth. This inward fulfilling of the law is the subject of the remainder of Jesus' discourse upon the mount.

21. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
