"Upon awaking in the middle of the night, sometimes I walked the floor repeating these words, simply to keep out the doubts that besieged me. Sometimes I sat through the evenings in darkness, repeating over and over: 'It is only for good. It is meant only for good. Only good can come.' As I did my work day after day I clung to these words as a drowning man to a straw. It was all I could hold to, the only thing I could grasp in the midst of an overwhelming tide of affairs.
"If I repeated the words a dozen times, I repeated them a thousand times. The more I did so, the more I could feel a growing conviction within me that they were true, that the goodness the experience held was going to be greater than my greatest expectation. This goodness did not appear all at once. It became apparent only degree by degree. I found a foundation of strength and faith, courage and conviction in developing anew within my heart and mind. I found an assurance I had never before known concerning God's love for me and His goodness. I found that I was unconsciously radiating to others more of this conviction and assurance
